Aang dealt with the genocide of his people, the death of all of his friends but one, and the guilt he felt for running away. He ended an 100 year long war and took on an all-consuming, intimidating destiny, and he did it all at age 12, without ever abandoning his values or his youthfulness. He’s way stronger than he gets credit for.

Aang is my bby. If you’ve followed me for more than 2.6 seconds, you know this. But this is about so much more than the fact that he’s an adorable sweetheart. People underestimate how much he struggled and how amazing what he did was because he doesn’t talk about it. He doesn’t make a big deal out of his problems or his achievements because he’s naturally a humble person and he doesn’t like to bother people with his troubles. And what’s true in real life is equally true in fiction- the squeaky wheel gets the grease.
Aang was afraid, he was hurt, hell, he was literally killed trying to do his duty, but he never gave up. He screwed up repeatedly, but he never made the same mistake twice. He had no idea how to do his job, but he knew he had to do it and so he did it, and his friends helped him but when they didn’t- or rather, couldn’t- support him any longer, he stood alone and faced his destiny with his own strength alone.

I once went to a concert with a friend (I don’t remember the band, she dragged me along) when I was 16. They were starting a wall of death and this guy who was flirting with me decides it would be funny to pull my top down, exposing my breasts, then throw me in the middle of this wall of death right as it’s about to meet. When I stumble in the middle and hit the wall someone screamed “STOP! EXPOSED GIRL!” and I thought they were all going to oggle at me. Instead, one guy quickly helped me cover up, three more helped me to my feet, and another asked who did that. When I pointed out the guy, two of them looked at him, me, each other, then nodded and punched the guy in the face before forcing him into the wall that was about to form again.

its like a known rule by most people that go to metal concerts (mainly guys) that if theres a girl who could potentially get hurt they get them out of the way
this one time i got caught up in a mosh pit and i get hit in the face, and one of the guys in the mosh pit ran over, bear hugged me, picked me up, and brought me out of the pit. he asked me if i was ok and i said i would be fine so he patted me on the head and told me to be more careful

I’ve been in a lot of pits and EVERY time I’ve fallen/ben knocked down, instead of getting trampled, four or five people immediately rushed to help pick me up and make sure I was okay. Metal heads are the best
